There is nothing quite like experiencing Disney magic at sea, and nothing is more magical than the newest ship in the fleet, the Disney Wish. As first time cruisers, we had no idea what to expect aboard the Wish, except that we knew that a Disney Cruise would be special.
Let’s look at all that the Disney Wish has to offer, and what are “must dos” for your cruise!
Immediately upon boarding the ship, you enter the Great Hall, which is as grand and immaculate as you would imagine. You feel like you have been transported to Cinderella’s Castle, and a statue of her will greet you!
From the Grand Hall, you have access to many of the restaurants, lounges, as well as easy directions to the Oceaneer Lab and “it’s a small world” Nursery. Let’s highlight some of our favorites!
For dining, three rotational options are available for your family to enjoy: 1923, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, and Worlds of Marvel. All three are unique dining experiences, but with food options that will leave everyone satisfied.
We really enjoyed the menu at 1923, and the decor is perfect for long-time Disney fans. The walls are full of concept art for many Disney films, and documents of Walt and Roy’s ideas for films and theme parks. Take your time and take a look at your surroundings during your meal, you might find a hidden Disney gem from your favorite movie! Our favorites off of the menu were the steak, the tortellini, and the tomato soup!
Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure was also at the top of our list, because of the entertainment. You are welcomed to dinner in honor of celebrating the beloved Anna and Kristoff for their engagement, and they are joined with their loved ones, Elsa and Olaf. The live entertainment during this meal is excellent, and for the Frozen fan, nothing is more exciting than conversing with Queen Elsa and Queen Anna as they converse with their royal subjects during dinner! Our favorites off of the menu included the baked scallops, the cheese and ham tart, and the Kvaefjordkake (a butter cake with almond meringue and berry compote)!
Other dining options included in your cruise fare on the Disney Wish are Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods (located on the pool deck) and Marceline Market. Make sure to grab the chicken fingers on the pool deck and some great breakfast fare at Marceline Market!
Disney Cruise Line offers the coolest hangout places for kids, tween and teens on the sea! In Disney’s Oceaneer Club, kids will have access to far away galaxies and enchanting castles. From Star Wars Cargo Bay, to Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck, adventure is waiting on deck 2 for children to explore! “It’s a small world” nursery is available for tiny tots for an additional fee, and is beautifully themed around a beloved Disney attraction.
For tweens and teens, Vibe and Edge are open for them to hang out, play games, and chill with new friends! All ages will want to check out the Hero Zone, which is the sports court that is home to many activities, including a Villian’s Dance Party one night!
The Disney Wish is home to some amazing adult only spaces as well! The Quiet Cove pools are exclusive to those over 18 years of age, and the view from the infinity pool is one to make sure to visit. We enjoyed spending evenings at the lounges, and finding our favorite beverages! Currents Bar is available at Quiet Cove, and other options are available on decks 3-5. Keg and Compass and Triton Lounge are located on deck 5, Luna and Hook’s Barbery are on deck 4, and Nightingale’s, The Bayou, and Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge are located on deck 3. We enjoyed our time at the piano bar Nightingale’s (beautifully inspired by Cinderella) and multiple rounds of trivia at The Bayou. Our recommendations are the Nightingale at Nightingale’s, the mocktails at Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, and the beignets at the Bayou!
To amp up your dining experience on the Disney Wish, both Palo Steakhouse and Enchante are amazing experiences for adults to indulge in. My husband and I are still dreaming about our brunch experience at Palo Steakhouse! Brunch all you care to enjoy off of the menu for $45 per adult, and we felt that this experience is something that we will splurge on again and again. Our recommendations are the chicken parmesan, spicy Italian sausage flatbread, the poached eggs and rosemary ham, and the warm Amaretto chocolate fondant!
Other experiences to take advantage of are the multitude of entertainment options on board! From three separate Broadway Style shows (currently on the Wish, they have Seas the Adventure, Aladdin and the Little Mermaid), to two separate movie theaters, to activities such as trivia, games, character meet and greets, there is something for all ages to enjoy. We enjoyed taking a walking ship tour, watching a new release from Disney in the Wonderland Cinema, and meeting so many characters during our cruise.
The amenities are endless aboard the Disney Wish, and you will find yourself in the midst of a magical and luxurious vacation. A dream is a wish that your heart makes, and this vacation was the WISH of a lifetime! We can’t wait to get back on the high seas with Disney Cruise Line to compare the Disney Fantasy really soon! Reach out to me if you’re ready to set sail where the magic meets the sea!
