Nickelodeon Riviera Maya

Updated: Mar 24, 2023

Where are my Nickelodeon fans?

Nickelodeon Riviera Maya is certainly a niche resort, but if you are a fan of the Nickelodeon cartoons and characters, it's a do not miss!

Everywhere you turn , you'll find subtle and not-so-subtle nods to all of your favorites. Themed restaurants, character inspired decor, the fabulous Aqua Nick water park, character meets (including a character breakfast in your pajamas!), and family friendly suites each with its own pool, make this resort a great choice for families for a few days of fun. You can even get SLIMED!

Located about a 30 minute drive from Cancun’s international airport, Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts Riviera Maya is an all-suite resort with rooms featuring Nickelodeon character-themed décor. Standard suites are generously sized and sleep a family of five comfortably, and every room in the resort has ocean views and a swim-up pool! Don't worry, though; the sliding glass doors leading to the pools have very secure child-proof locks. Some standard suites can be connected through adjoining doors for larger families or parent's who want their own space.

The resort’s deluxe suites are among the best hotel rooms for kids anywhere.

The Lair Suite with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle décor is the perfect place for a pizza party.

The Big Kahuna Suite is for old-school Nickelodeon aficionados. Custom pieces are inspired by Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy, and The Loud House. The guest room has a master suite with free-standing tub and rainfall shower. The second bedroom offers two queen beds and an en suite bath. Additionally, there’s a 710-square-foot terrace with cushy lounge furniture and an infinity plunge pool that runs the length of the suite.

Inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants’ underwater home, the Pineapple Suite is the signature accommodation at Nickelodeon Riviera Maya. Like the Lair Suite, this one includes an oceanfront terrace and plunge pool. Outdoor and indoor living areas offer plenty of options for meals and lounging.

Speaking of dining, the all-inclusive resort has a variety of sit-down and a la carte dining options suited for everyone in the family. Along with 24-hour in-room dining, Nickelodeon Riviera Maya has a number of themed dining experiences:

  • Good Burger, a retro burger joint inspired by the Nickelodeon movie of the same name.

  • Piazza, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed pizza restaurant.

  • Yacht Club, a nautical-themed restaurant with beachfront ocean views.

  • Le Spatula, a SpongeBob-inspired space with buffet-style dining.

  • Nick Bistro, overlooking the Aqua Nick water park.

  • Bikini Bottom, another SpongeBob-themed spot where you can get quick bites and drinks

  • Snick Lounge, a space for mingling, arcade games, and live entertainment

There are also two swim-up bars in the seafront pool area, private cabanas with concierge service available at Aqua Nick, and quick Aqua Bite dining venues that serve hamburgers, hot dogs, poke bowls, ice cream, and other casual fare inside the water park.

Did I say waterpark? Yes! The six-acre Aqua Nick water park is one of the largest in Mexico and is included in your stay. Aqua Nick features 20 wild slides and two lazy rivers - well, one lazy river and one rapid river!

Younger kids will enjoy the Paw Patrol Adventure Bay, while teens and tweens will love the Soak Summit Main Tower with slides and incredible views of the Caribbean sea. Daily sliming sessions are a must do and can be done indiviually or in groups.

Next door to Aqua Nick is Nickelodeon Place, the hub for character meet-and-greets, character meals, and dance parties. Daily programming includes interactive events, such as a Nickelodeon game show and the chance to get slimed on the resort’s Main Stage.

As if Aqua Nick and Nickelodeon Place weren't enough to keep you busy, there’s also a kids club for young children, the Snick Lounge for older kids, an expansive waterfront pool area for the whole family, and a full-service spa for some relaxing adult time.

The one downside to this resort is that, while it sits on the beach and each room has an Oceanview, it's not a resort for laying on the beach or swimming in the ocean. We recommend combining a 2 to 4 night stay here with another resort in the area for the best of both worlds. Or, if you aren't beach people anyway, the resort is located close to golf clubs, cenotes, shopping, and historical Mayan sites for ample excursion opportunities.

The resort’s downloadable app shows all of the day’s scheduled activities, including evening shows. You can schedule a personal sliming session at the water park, or get lucky and become a contestant in Slime Time Live, a fun Nick-themed show on the Main Stage that incorporates trivia, physical stunts, and audience participation. Win or lose, you’ll probably end up covered in that famous green slime.
